Here's another question for your conscience to ponder. How would we feel if the U.S. lost its influence over mid-east oil interests, and if the western world started to pay "$19.99" or more for a quart, wouldn't that adversely affect our economies and our individual standard of living? So, is it necessary for wars to be fought and people to die over there for the sake of preserving our standard of living? I hope I'm wrong.

I hope you haven't misunderstood me (my other peak oil vids might clarify better). I think we need to get on alternatives. I am going to post a video response here to clarify. I understand why you might think we need to protect oil with blood, because I said "we need that oil"....however, it would come cheaper if we just bought it.

I just uploaded...anyway from moral standpoint "of course not". But I prefer to reach an even wider audience by stating from an economic standpoint it would cheaper to simply carry on with market action. The only folks that don't see it that way are the NEOCONs! I are not!

I hope you don't think I was criticizing your video. I think its now generally accepted that oil is the real reason for the war. And I can't help but feel like a hypocrite when I speak against the war but yet I know "we need that oil".

I hear ya'. Firstly, who can say for sure what the "parallel universe" looks like....where we didn't invade Iraq? Would we still be doing UN inspections? Would PriceofOil still be $40/bbl?
Ultimately, we have to ween off the stuff, so we might as well get started thru market solutions, not by force. I feel your sentiment, thanks.

Don't get me wrong, I don't believe for a second that we're justified in fighting for oil. I don't even think democracy is a good enough reason, and forget terrorism because I think that's misguided too. History will show us that superpowers use military force or the threat of military force to TAKE what they need.
