Good: ***I suspect this may not be totally inaccurate;*** I am not sure how close The Comet was to the Sun when this happened. I would expect NASA to give them sun visors, however, or build in a UV block to the visor. They were on the dark side of The Comet, after all, so they would not have had their sun visors down, and he was admittedly too panicked to think of snapping it down. Still, a moment's exposure should not have so badly burned his face. That was added for drama."

I liked the silly music from 3:27 making a laugh of the lads. On Moon movie dot com you can see them fidgety, nervous, depressed and uncomfortable in the press conference after 'returning' to Earth after the greatest mission ever...
I think the men in the Paramount Pictures movie were better actors!

Funny how Dr Plait always forgets to mention he gets a NASA paycheck for running NASA's GLAST Gamma Ray Space Telescope. Funny how astronomer Plait never complains that Apollo forgot to photograph stars. Amazing that the suface of the Moon has more gamma radiation that the surface of the Sun, yet astronots only required cotton or aluminum foil for protection, and never got sunburned.

Buzz baby was a terminal alcoholic who went along with it all no questions.
And Collins was their side kick " well I never saw any stars" yes man.
All under the threat of an Apollo 1 fate if they didn't knuckle under.

Green. All the photos on the apollo insider page come from a USGS book called "A chronology of activities from conception through the end of apollo project"

Apollo insider is very misleading. Example: the photo "Trespass vehicles were placed...". In fact they had a special 8 wheeled vehicle that they named "Trespasser", nothing to do with stopping access. The photo does not show a "trespasser". James Crossan was a surveyer, not a 'hard man'

funny ho we on earth need layers and layers and layers of atmosphere and everything else and we still get burnt, but this dude one the moon with the sun...right there... no layers... erm? no need to be scientific here, it was all a con a joke on you people and they got away with it and they will continue to do so...
