The new Govt didn't launch to wipe the LTTE away from the east ! Al Jazeera fails to state that it was the LTTE that instigated it by a string of political assasinations and killings.

the SLgovt have a lot of under handed dealing happening as well. We cannot just blame the LTTE, we have to understand why they came into existance; they were being persecuted! i'm devoted to my people and my religion, but there is NO PLACE FOR CHURCH AND STATE. it is the beginning of the end! No govt should be based on ONE RELIGION...it alienates all others!

In an election, if anyone gets more votes, he is eligible to rule the country. In the Supreme Court, majority decides when more than one judge present. A pope is going to select by the majority vote. If this is the Democracy, Why 75% Sinhalese and 70% of the Buddhists cannot rule the country. Others should know how to move with them, without having any hidden political agenda. Being a Roman Catholic I must say that Sinhala Buddhists have tolerated enough.

the moral of the story, Peace talks with the LTTE is a joke and this war will be the war to end all wars in SL. the LTTE will not be saved this time. They can come for peace talks but the army will not let them rest.

There are two things to end a war, peace talks or all out military offensives. clearly, peace talks are useless based on previous experience IE peace talks start in 2001, LTTE build up until 2006 and carries out suicide attacks on the DefSec and Army commander. You call that a ceasefire? And then this reporter tries to say that the army started it last year. LOL. I hate journalists, they stick their noses into things they don't know.

we're all fed up of peace talks, they do not lead to peace. The LTTE only knows one thing, violence. Everybody, including the monks, have had enough of this war and we all know that the LTTE can only be defeated militarily and this time we will not let any other country swoop in and save them......

It is just silly to talk about peace talks with the LTTE terrorists. Can someone tell me how many peace talks were held with the LTTE? Every time that happens, the LTTE builds up it's capabilities and pulls out of the peace talks. What is the point of peace talks with terrorists?.......

Al Jazeera tried to make this as fair as possible with both Pro and Anti war Buddhists The issue of Buddhist Nationalism is far too complex to summarise into a 30 min show The JHU didn't employ an accomplished orator for the interview and listening to the lay representative was like listening to someone from the KKK/BNP right wing supremacist parties >90% of the Buddhists in Sri Lanka would never vote for the JHU at the moment they have considerable influence in the Gov as it is a weak coalition
