Description:

I was 17 years old when Outlandos d'Amour was first released to an unsuspecting worldwide audience. Roxanne was the track that got the initial airplay, and it was all I needed to hear. I went down to Sound Warehouse and bought the album, and I've been hooked ever since. And in spite of my love for their music, I never had the opportunity to see them when they were together. I guess I never thought I would...until those rumors started some months ago. A reunion tour? Was it possible? And there I was last night...almost 30 years later...finally getting the chance to do something I had not been able to do all those years ago. I got to see The Police perform live. It was so worth the wait. The show was amazing...they played so many great songs...many of them revamped to make old sound new. This is one of the songs...given a minor tune-up. Filmed 27 May 2007 at GM Place - Vancouver, British Columbia. This show was hailed as a dress rehearsal for the official start of the world tour (28 May 2007). Sting, Andy Summers, Stewart Copeland, and 4000 of their closest fan club members got together for an evening of musical magic.

Sting's voice is back. I saw Jefferson fricken Starship yesterday in the park and even Grace Slick's voice is back. They must have some new kind of treatment or something. Good to see.

There are those who think (not really thinking though) that the Police should play exactly what they recorded. These guys are accomlished musicians craving the "good ole days" sure, but you can't go back home. Anyone over 30 knows that. They sound great. Andy is playing superb and fresh, Stewart is obviously having fun and Sting is re-invigorating music that he probably thought he could never play again. Listen to the Police with 2007 ears, not 1980s ears.

This was the fan club (dress rehearsal) show, which was played before the regularly scheduled opening nights of the tour.

This is so awesome. I had seen the warm up rehersal gigs and thot Andy was a bit tame. After seeing this I am even more excited 'see em'. That chord progression was amazing.
