I agree it was wrong for the US to sell arms to saddam. As I already said, and I'll say it again, there are many aspects of US foreign policy I don't approve of.

roshagawa, there's a lot about US foreign policy I don't approve of. However, other aspects of Western foreign policy also do a lot of good - 3rd world aid for example. It's a shame that some people are happy to turn a blind eye to evil dictatorships like Saddam's Iraq, until of course the West tries to intervene. As for historical western fascism, you say 'open your eyes' - but i'm fully aware there was fascism in the west in the 20th century. It was the US which helped defeat Hitler!

amnesty international has plenty to say about guantanamo, abu ghraib and such atrocities, too.

you keep talking about freedom and democracy. can you explain why the US overthrew many democratically elected governments in say Latin America since WW2? simply because they were not willing to kowtow to american policy and corporations. open your eyes, there is plenty of fascism in western contemporary history, which you might infer from your alevel syllabus.

Thanx Chumfum. In doing my own research I was looking for something like this (your analysis). Thank you for taking the time and effort.

Wow. Did we watch the same movie? Amazing analysis, one I am going to discuss in a couple of minutes with me mates in the pub. On the same subject I recommend the Dutch book :'het zijn net mensen', ('they're almost like people') by Joris Luyendijk, on the media coverage in the middle east.

I've given you enough research pointers to find the answer to that question yourself. You are trying to use this comments section as a political platform for your fear/hatred mindset. Mail me directly if you have anything else to add.
